As Asset Development Specialist, Kelsie Whiting is responsible for day-to-day administrative assistant duties and assisting other staff members on the Lakota Funds team. However, her main priority is supporting our Executive Director through a variety of tasks, along with teaching financial literacy, credit coaching, and prepping clients for homeownership. Kelsie earned her Associate’s degree in Paralegal from Globe University. She currently is certified in Pathways Home: A Native Homeownership Guide homebuyer education curriculum and Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families. She is also an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and has her license to practice law on the Reservation. She has past experience in the legal field, as a Paralegal for a law office and as an Advocate for the Tribe.
Kelsie grew up in Wanblee, South Dakota, where she graduated from high school at the age of 16 with a 4.0 G.P.A. Prior to her time at Lakota Funds, Kelsie worked in the loan industry and has experience with home mortgages. She plans on going back to college for her Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, with a focus on Paralegal. She spends all of her free time with her two young children, to whom she contributes all of life her success.
